Music Monday: The Eclectic Mix

Good morning and happy Monday!
(I mean Christmas is this week so it is a happy Monday, right?)

An artist, whether they create with their hands, brushes, the written word or through sound all try to capture life. Art has a great deal of fluidity, making it possible to appeal to so many of us. For me, the easiest art form to connect to is music.

The way a song is written or composed can incorporate so many widespread emotions- happiness, anger, sadness- that it is nearly impossible not to find a piece that just gets you. Music really is a universal language we can all not only understand, but also feel.

And that's pretty powerful.

Today I bring you some of my favorite songs of the moment.
I've shared some other songs in the past as well which you can check out below:

 Dearly Departed by Shakey Graves

When I get my Hands on You by The New Basement Tapes

Left Hand Free by Alt- J

Ready to Run by One Direction

Sex and Candy by Maroon 5
I love the original version from Mercy Playground, but this cover is almost too good.

Let me know what songs you're obsessed with at the moment; I'd love to check them out and take a listen!

Photo Finish

Going back a few years, I was given a Canon.  At the time, my love for photography was just starting to bloom.

I didn't know many bells and whistles then and I surely know that the skills in my photography arsenal now are still very limited.

Now that I've been home for a few days, I've found different things to do to keep myself entertained. One of those things being, you guessed it, photography.

More importantly, the photos that have long been taken.  Looking through all these, I have come to appreciate whatever it was that made me appreciate a certain object, feeling, aesthetic etc. during the time it was taken, whatever it may have been.

Here are a few of my favorites. In my favorite composition- black and white.

Time to Go Home!

Hello Everyone!
It's hard to believe, but another semester has come to a close.

I've handed in my last paper, packed my last article of clothing, said my last "See you later!" and it is finally  time to go back to the garden state.

I'm excited to be home, catch up with friends and celebrate the greatest time of the year with my family.

Wherever you are, whether you still have finals or are en route to your own home, I wish you the best of luck and a relaxing, much deserved  break!

Safe travels.
Best,
